Yebisu beer arrives in Australia

Born in Tokyo with over 130 years of Japanese heritage and tradition, Yebisu Premium Beer has now arrived in Australia with Cooper’s Brewery holding the exclusive distribution rights.

Pronounced “Ebis” in English, Yebisu is made with selected ingredients from Sapporo Breweries Collaborative Farms. It has a subtle foam and a hop aroma thanks to its longer brewing process and additional malt.

Coopers Brewery brand manager Chris Levey said Japanese beer is gaining momentum in Australia and creating premiumisation in the beer category.

“Yebisu is a symbol of Japan’s unwavering commitment to quality and craftsmanship, meeting the intersection of Australian drinkers’ desire to explore and discover and their attraction to true originals and authenticity,” said Levey said.

Adhering to Bavaria’s 500-year-old purity law, the 5% ABV drink uses only water, malt and hops in its brewing process.

“We expect the introduction of Yebisu to generate more interest in the Japanese beer segment, attracting a wide range of beer drinkers,” he said.

With double-digit volume growth between August 2020 and 21, Coopers’ Japanese brand Sapporo Premium Beer continues to perform well in Australia.

Yebisu Premium beer is available at First Choice Liquor, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars.
