Sakimoto Sushi to open in Walnut Creek with A5 Wagyu on the menu

WALNUT CREEK, CA – Sakimoto Sushi Lounge opens in Walnut Creek on Tuesday, and diners will be treated to more than a California bun.

If you have your mouth watering for a good steak, the restaurant will serve A5 Wagyu, the highest quality rating for Japanese Wagyu beef. Sakimoto will be the only restaurant in Walnut Creek to feature A5 Wagyu, according to manager Haven Piatt, and one of the few in Northern California. “There may be a place or two in San Francisco where you can get it, but no more. You have to have connections to get the A5.”

Piatt credits one of the restaurant’s chefs, who he identified only as Chef Mark, with the connections that allow the new restaurant to open its doors with grade A5 beef.

In addition to the steaks, diners can also get black cod, pork rib, beef cheek, or tsukune on the grill.

If you are looking for nigiri or sashimi, you will have 20 choices to ponder. A few of the offerings are sea urchins, squid, octopus, scallops, spotted shrimp, tuna, rainbow trout, and salmon.

If you’re looking for specialty buns or rolls, you’ll have more than a dozen to choose from, with creative ingredients, combinations and sauces.

You can sip a cocktail, wine, beer or cider while enjoying your meal. Save room for dessert.

The Sakimoto Sushi Lounge will initially open for dinner only, then gradually expand for lunch. It’s on Broadway Plaza, at 1342 Broadway Plaza.
