Meat lovers are ready to go wild for the world’s first restaurant that only serves food and drink made with the nation’s holiday favorite – pigs in blankets.
Hailed by millions as the best Christmas dinner party, the bacon-wrapped sausage leaves everything else on the plate in its wake, according to fans.
Now, the meat brains of Bristol butcher, The Jolly Hog, have brought them to the forefront and created a menu dedicated to the item.
The Jolly Hog sells award winning RSPCA guaranteed British breed sausage and bacon including pigs in blankets in UK supermarkets.
The carefully curated menu offers sweet and savory Christmas classics with a touch of pork. Fans can look forward to tasting delicious entrees and meat-based main dishes, such as the ‘PIB Cocktail’, a version of the shrimp and Thousand Island dressy dish, Mince PIB Pies, a throwback to the original recipe served in the early Middle Ages, and ‘Festive Fondue’, an oven-baked Camembert served with piles of pigs in blankets for dipping.
The chefs at Pigsty – the restaurant at Jolly Hog’s in Bristol where the menu will be available – have also created a jaw-dropping, shareable Christmas trifle – featuring layers of creamy mash, cranberry-soaked brioche and pigs in blankets.
However, those who want to try the limited edition menu will have to hurry. The pop-up will only be open for three days – opening its doors from Friday December 3 through Sunday December 5, which is also National Blanket Pig Day.
Olly Kohn of The Jolly Hog said, “We love hearing how much our customers love our pigs in blankets, and we thought it was high time these pork treats got the attention they deserve in the blanket. Christmas is approaching.
“Something so delicious shouldn’t be relegated to a plate of turkey and cabbage.
“In addition to being crammed with GDP, our chefs have ensured that every item on the menu tastes the same as our firecrackers, because our customers are used to getting the best.
