Kampai: the only authentic Japanese restaurant in Aerocity

Known for presenting a contemporary twist on traditional Japanese cuisine, Kampai is a must if you love Japanese food. Whether it’s sushi or desserts, gyozas or rolls, there are plenty of options to choose from. We recently tried their new menu called “Omakase” based on the concept of modern Japan. The subdued ambiance and authentic Japanese decor elements – such as the cherry blossoms and the “Ikigai” book – were the very first things we noticed during our visit. Our exclusive preview table offered a well-prepared five-course meal, with a cocktail to accompany each one.

Aperitifs And Cocktails

The very first course itself blew us away – three different starters paired with the refreshing ‘Ikigai‘cocktail. There was a lawyer and a Tuna tartar sauceaccompanied by a Sliced ​​Duck Salad with wasabi vinaigrette. In the second lesson, we had the Shrimp Gyoza with Soy Ginger and the Mushroom harumaki, a fried spring roll type dish. the Edamame Money Bags were also crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside and came with a signature drink called ‘Kaizen’.

Sushi took center stage in the third course, paired with the ‘sour sakura‘cocktail. There was Crispy Kale with Yuzu Cream Cheese as good as Roll of dynamite filled with lots of interesting vegetables and with the traditional wasabi, ginger and soy sauce on the side. For non-vegetarians, the Lobster Katsu Maki Roll with Sashimi on the side was a full show-stealer.

The fourth and main course saw a plethora of different textures and flavors combined in unique ways. the Spicy Shimeji Mushroom with Pepper Butter was delicious in its own way. the Miso sea bass butter and Nori crusted salmon miso both were cooked to perfection and truly impressive. We also tried the Miso chicken and Bacon and Edamame Fried Riceas good as Grilled vegetables with Halloumi cheese. Each concoction was mouth-watering and prepared with meticulous detail. As for the dessert, there was a edible zen garden which tasted even more amazing than it looked!
