KFC Japan launches official recipes for onigiri rice balls and miso ramen rice to improve fried chicken


Super easy ways to give your KFC takeout a mouth-watering Japanese twist.

There is arguably no foreign fast food chain that Japan has enthusiastically accepted as KFC, and this cultural appreciation goes both ways. So while Colonel’s Fried Chicken is a viable meal as is in Japan, KFC also periodically releases official recipes on how to use its signature poultry as an ingredient in traditional Japanese dishes.

They just released a new batch of recipes, so let’s check out some of the tastiest, starting with tori gobo okowa onigiriWhere rice balls with chicken and burdock root.

Ingredients:
● Original KFC fried chicken recipe (2 pieces)
● Rice (360 milliliters [12.2 ounces])

● Soy sauce (1 tablespoon)
● Mirin (2 tablespoons)

Mirin (a type of cooking sake), kirimochi, and burdock root aren’t too hard to find in specialty Japanese food stores outside of Japan, and you can often find packages of pre-cut carrots and burdock. together, called kinpira gobo packs.

Step 1: Start by washing the rice and cutting the mochi into 1 centimeter (0.4 inch) squares.

Takikomi gohan is another Japanese dish where you put a bunch of extra ingredients in the rice cooker, and this one is also a cinch to make.

Step 1: Put the rice and the required amount of water into the rice cooker. Add the miso ramen broth base (aka powder) and salt, then stir. Add the chicken (still on the bone). Finally, break the dry, uncooked ramen into small pieces and add them. Close the rice cooker lid and cook as usual.

2nd step: Once the rice cooker is done, remove the chicken from the bones and mix everything together. Garnish with sliced ​​green onions and you’re done.

As you can see, KFC Japan is very committed to the idea of ​​rice cooker dishes.
