KFC has partnered with Beyond Meat to bring plant-based fried chicken to its restaurants across the United States, starting January 10.
The limited edition Beyond Fried Chicken was developed exclusively for KFC and mimics the franchise’s iconic fried chicken.
“From day one, the mission was simple: to make world-famous Kentucky Fried Chicken from plants,” said Kevin Hochman, President of KFC US. “And now, over two years later, we can say ‘mission accomplished’.
The company successfully tested its first iteration of Beyond Fried Chicken in August 2019 in a limited trial in Atlanta, with stores selling in under five hours. In 2020, the two companies extended the test to select restaurants in Nashville and Charlotte.
Beyond Fried Chicken is served with any KFC dip and is available as a plant-based combo meal with secret recipe fries and a medium drink or in orders of six or 12 pieces. Prices start at US $ 6.99 and vary by location.
Beyond Meat continued to expand its meatless restaurant offering, launching its chicken offerings in July at restaurants across the United States. In October, the company partnered with Panda Express to launch a plant-based orange chicken.
