McDonald’s is making a major change to its menu starting today.

McDonald’s is making a major menu change starting today, January 5, with the arrival of a new product.

After a successful trial, the fast food giant is rolling out its very first plant-based burger to restaurants across the UK and Ireland.

The McPlant uses a patty co-developed with Beyond Meat and includes a sesame bread, mustard, ketchup and vegan sauce, as well as onion, pickles, lettuce and tomato, with vegan cheese.

To avoid cross-contamination, it will be cooked separately from other McDonald’s products using dedicated cookware.

Michelle Graham-Clare, Marketing Director, McDonald’s UK & Ireland said: “We are delighted that our McPlant is now officially ‘everywhere’ and available for more of our customers to taste and enjoy.

“We saw a remarkable response to the trial period in October and now McPlant is on Main Street, in retail parks and gas stations all over the UK and Ireland so all of our customers can try it out.

“We are proud to once again offer our customers more flavorful McDonald’s options. It’s our same iconic taste, but plant-based.

Famous faces such as Rosie Ramsey, Simon Gregson and Lawrence Okolie have endorsed the McPlant, with tastings all over the UK.

Beyond Meat is a popular herbal product founded in 2009, designed to have the same texture and taste as animal meat while also being beneficial for the environment.

The McPlant is available starting today, January 5th.
