MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos’ love of basketball once again took center stage on the streets of Bonifacio Global City on Saturday as the NBA and Hennessy kicked off their “Game Never Stops” pop-up event from two days.

Building hype for the upcoming NBA season, the NBA and Hennessy hosted a weekend of festivities for Filipino hoops fans with a 3×3 tournament, exciting activities, food, alcohol and more .

Day 1 featured 3×3 celebrity games featuring hoop stars Trina Guytingco, Allana Lim, Javee Mocon and LA showbiz personalities Aguinaldo, Rayver Cruz and sportscaster Nikko Ramos.

More than hoops, however, the event also celebrates off-court culture like art, fashion, music and more with DJs and performances from artists like Sam Concepcion and J. Rey Soul.

“The partnership between Hennessy and the NBA is about celebrating the lifestyle that takes place on and off the court. That’s why it’s ‘Game Never Stops,'” said Gio Robles, chief marketing officer of Hennessy Philippines.

“We celebrate what happens beyond the basketball court,” he added.

With the NBA x Hennessy partnership already in its second year, many events have already taken place all over the world such as Bondi Beach, Australia.

But this is the first time such an event has taken place in the Philippines as COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease.

Hennessy’s business development manager for Asia, Oceania and Japan, Lisa Mackenzie, praised the event in Manila, adding that there are plans to take the partnership outside the region. Metro Manila.

“It’s absolutely amazing, it’s really very special for Hennessy to bring our partnership with the NBA to life here in the Philippines and to really be part of the Filipino culture and the Filipino love of basketball,” said- she declared.

Gilas Pilipinas women’s guard, Guytingco, who was able to take advantage of the event, also relished the opportunity to display women’s empowerment in basketball as the 3×3 matches featured mixed teams.

“Honestly it’s amazing because you could see all the girls here, we can compete with the men, we can muscle them. We can get physical with them. It’s good for people to see that the girls can play with men,” she said. .

The “Game Never Stops” by Hennessy x NBA event continues on Sunday, October 16, here on 5th Avenue at BGC.
