EXCLUSIVE: Kareena Kapoor Khan says boycott culture ‘upsets her’: Cinema not supposed to be canceled

Kareena Kapoor Khan is undoubtedly one of the most beloved and followed actresses we have in Bollywood. The actress is currently gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated movie, Laal Singh Chaddha, which also features Aamir Khan in the lead alongside Mona Singh and Nagarjuna. The film is directed by Advait Chandan and produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It is set to hit theaters on August 11, 2022. The Veere Di Wedding actress recently opened up about boycott and cancel culture.

In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, during promotions for her upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha, Kareena revealed that it upset her. “It saddens of course because we work for the love of cinema and it’s good cinema. So we want people to see that. We want them to come and enjoy this film that we all have and a team of 250 people who have jobs and have worked for the same purpose. I just want everyone to come and appreciate and enjoy good cinema. Cinemas are meant to spread love and positivity. It’s not supposed to to be canceled or referred to in this way and it upsets me,” the actress said.

Meanwhile, Kareena Laal Singh’s film Chaddha is inspired by the 1994 American film Forrest Gump which itself is based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name. Next, she will feature in Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma, which is set to release on Netflix. The film is an adaptation of Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s novel The Devotion Of Suspect X.

On top of that, Kareena will make her production debut with filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s upcoming thriller project, which is reportedly based on a real-life incident in the UK. Soon she will also be working on a film with Rhea Kapoor.
