Edinburgh’s foodie hotspot goes viral with controversial menu addition


An Edinburgh foodie hotspot has gone viral with its controversial menu addition to the Tiktok social media platform.

Scran Bistro, the popular downtown restaurant, shared a video of their macaroni cheese wrap with a side of “pizza” fries.

The Cockburn Street restaurant shared the video of the delicious wrap overflowing with macaroni and cheese with fries covered in tomato sauce and pepperoni on the side.

The superb cafe and restaurant is located just five minutes walk from Waverly Station and minutes from the Royal Mile.

The double-carb dish received mixed reviews online, with some finding it too much and others saying they would travel to Edinburgh just to try it.



The Cockburn Street restaurant shared the video of the delicious wrap overflowing with macaroni and cheese with fries covered in tomato sauce and pepperoni on the side.

They shared the enticing video from the packaging captioned: “You don’t want to miss this #scranbistro#edimburgfoodie#Edinburg#scottishfoodie #edinburghfoodplaces . ”

The TikTok video has gained over 500,000 views and 41,000 likes since its publication two days ago.

But viewers had mixed opinions on the carb-laden dish.

@sarahhannesmart said: “Frankly this looks bogged down.”

@ k5ushy joked, “Going to Edinburgh University just for that.”

@ jacob_pilot8 said: “Oh you could have told me while I was still in Edinburgh I will be back this weekend for this.”

The super instagrammable place is known for its brunches and recently opened a second location this year called Scran New Town across the arcade.

Created by the maximum Edinburgh design studio Ja! Coco! the interior which sports pastel pink walls, neon lights, huge floral installations, checkerboard floors, and plush booths made Scran Bistro one of the capital’s hotspots.
