DVIDS – News – AFCLC Culture Courses for Expeditionary Readiness Now Available in MyLearning

Air Force Culture and Language Center culture courses for expedition readiness are now available through the USAF MyLearning platform in addition to the AFCLC Culture Guide mobile app for the course credit.

“The AFCLC is moving head-on with the fulfillment of CSAF Gen. CQ Brown Jr’s action orders transforming the way Airmen learn and preparing them for use in high-end combat,” said AFCLC director Howard Ward. “By making these courses available on an Air Force learning platform and through our mobile app, our service members can enhance their cross-cultural skills for partner interoperability and adversary understanding in the classroom and moving.”

Each introductory lesson, lasting from 40 minutes to two and a half hours, provides a basic knowledge of the culture of the country using the model of the 12 domains of culture.

The AFCLC currently offers five country-specific certified courses on its free Culture Guide mobile app – Introduction to China, Introduction to Russia, Introduction to Japan, Introduction to Iraq and Introduction to Afghanistan. Upon completion of the course in the mobile app, Airmen and Guardians will receive an official certificate of completion, with an official course number, to upload to their learning folder.

These courses are now also accessible in myLearning as Expedition Preparation Courses. ERT courses on the myLearning platform are designed to equip Airmen with foundational skills that will help them operate more effectively in foreign cultures. Airmen and Guardians can use either delivery platform to earn official course credit documented in the Air Force Records System for course completion.

Introduction to Korea, which is expected to be released by the end of 2022, will also be available through the myLearning platform and the Culture Guide mobile app.

The Culture Guide app is available for download through App Store or Google Play and is safe for Department of Device devices. Search for “AFLCC” in myLearning to access the courses (CAC access required).
