CALGARY — This summer’s Calgary Stampede menu features weird and spicy twists on traditional favorites.

A list of 40 new items was released during the annual rodeo and exposition, which runs July 8-17.

There’s pizza with vine-ripened tomato sauce and slow-braised Alberta beef tongue, Korean squid ink corn dogs – half hot dog, half mozzarella dipped in black batter to look like tentacles – and popcorn chicken dipped in popping candy.

Other highlights include the Waffle Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches, Glazed Donut Grilled Cheese, and Kraft Dinner Soft Serve Ice Cream.

There are Regular Hot Dogs and Mealworm Hot Dogs, Regular Lemonade and Garlic Onion Lemonade, Regular Mini Donuts and Maple Glazed Oreo Donuts .

All items will be available on Stampede grounds during the 10-day event.

“The spectacular and inventive dishes brought to the midpoint each year truly make the Calgary Stampede experience fun and memorable,” said Kyle Russell, director of programming, in a press release on Tuesday.

“The dining experience is a ‘must-do’.”
