Bar Trigona is again the best bar in Malaysia and wins the award for “Best Cocktail Menu”

Bar Trigona at Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur once again excels in the seventh edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022, named Malaysia’s Best Bar for the fourth consecutive year.

Bar Trigona also received the program’s most recent accolade – winning the Siete Misterios Award for Best Cocktail Menu.

Head Bartender Shadrach ‘Shawn’ Shan took over the reins of Ashish Sharma in 2021. His menu focuses on Malaysian herbs commonly used in the country’s cuisines, namely pandan, lemongrass, pegaga and Bunga Kantan.

Bar Trigona serves these masterfully crafted cocktails using local and sustainable ingredients in a sleek and stylish space at the sophisticated hotel in the heart of downtown. The bar also ranked 29th in the 2022 Asia’s Top 50 Bars list.

Junglebird, another popular rum bar in Kuala Lumpur, also moved up the list, ranking at N0. 35. Last year, he ranked 37th.

About Asia’s Top 50 Bars 2022

The seventh edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022 was held in Bangkok on April 28. Bar and cocktail enthusiasts were invited to attend the event, which was broadcast live from the city.

Coa in Hong Kong was named Asia’s Best Bar 2022, as well as Hong Kong’s Best Bar.

It is followed by Singapore’s best bar, number 2 Jigger & Pony. Hong Kong once again finished on the podium in third place with Argo. The bar also won the award for best new entry.

Mark Sansom, Content Director of Asia’s Top 50 Bars, welcomed guests to the event, which was held at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok and was attended by an enthusiastic crowd of bar and drink-goers.

At the ceremony, 50 Best revealed it had raised $1.29 million through a global auction featuring unique drinks and dishes, plus a cookbook featuring the world’s most talented bartenders and chefs. world. Who won the special prizes?

A series of special prizes were awarded to many bars across Asia.

The One to Watch award went to Honky Tonks Tavern in Hong Kong while Bar Mood in Taipei, Taiwan won the Sustainable Bar Award.

The award for best bar in Sri Lanka went to Smoke & Bitters from Hiriketiya. This is the first time a Sri Lankan venue has entered the list.

Bar Trigona in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia won the award for best cocktail menu. Bar Trigona was also named the best bar in Malaysia.

The best bar in Indonesia was a newcomer: the Cocktail Club in Jakarta. In mainland China, the Sober Company of Shanghai was named the best bar.

Bangkok’s BKK Social Club won the Best Bar in Thailand and Art of Hospitality awards.

For climbing to 37th position from 45th place last year, Singapore’s Mo Bar was named the highest climber.

Charles H in Seoul won Best Bar in Korea for the fourth consecutive year, while Benfiddich Bar in Tokyo, Japan won both List Legend for its consistent performance in the list since its inception. and the award for the best bar in Japan. .

Taipei’s Indulge Experimental Bistro was named the best bar in Taiwan. Tesouro in Goa, India won honors for best new opening and best bar in India.

The Industry Icon award went to Colin Chia from Singapore. The prestigious Bartenders’ Bartender Award, given by industry peers, was presented to Keith Motsi, the head bartender at Charles H in Seoul, South Korea.

Motsi is widely hailed as one of the best bartenders in the world.

“I am extremely humbled and honored to be selected by my peers,” he said after receiving the award.

Motsi started his career in Leeds, England in 2007 and worked his way up the ladder of success.

“For me, I knew right away that I wanted to make sure everyone was happy,” he said, looking back on his journey. “Follow your dreams…and above all be hospitable.”

The event was organized by William Reed, owner of the 50 Best brand, who was also responsible for the voting system and the respective lists.

The announcement of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022 follows the announcement of Asia’s Best Bars ranked 51-100 a week ago. Nine bars from Singapore and Japan made the list, followed by five from Hong Kong. Four bars from Bangkok, Seoul and Taipei were on the list. Nepal debuted in Asia’s Top 50 Bars with Kathmandu’s Blackbird at No. 96.
