5 Authentic Margarita Recipes to Get You Through Margarita Month

In case you missed it, February is Margarita Month and you know what that means? No matter where the hand is on the clock, it’s shameless margarita time. But while you might know how to whip up the OG, we’re here to show you how to shake things up and approach the old classic with a spicy, tangy, or fresh twist.

So to help us do just that, we’ve teamed up with tequila lords Patrón to bring you five authentic margarita recipes to ignite that holiday feeling and carry you through Margarita Month and beyond.

A savory take on the OG, this cocktail is fun when guests arrive and things start to heat up.


45 ml Patrón Silver infused with jalapeño*
15ml agave syrup
90ml lime juice
Lime wedge and sliced ​​jalapeño for garnish


– Mix all the ingredients on ice in a shaker.
– Shake and strain into an old fashioned double glass rimmed with salt.
– *For Jalapeño-Infused Patrón Silver: Add two whole jalapeños cut in the middle and seeded to a bottle of Patrón Silver and let sit for 12 hours.

Flamingo Margarita Park

This flamboyant and flavorful concoction won Margarita of the Year in 2019, so you know it’s a goodie. Although there are a few special ingredients, it’s super easy to make.


45ml Boss rested
15 ml lemon orange liqueur
30ml grapefruit sparkling water
22.5ml fresh lime juice
22.5ml Rich agave syrup
15ml Bitter Martini
Tajín, sea salt and black pepper rim*
Optional: slice of dehydrated lime for garnish


– Garnish a stemmed highball glass with the tajín/sea salt/black pepper mixture.
– Combine spirits, agave syrup and lime juice in a shaker with ice and shake to cool.
– Strain over fresh ice in the highball glass.
– Top up with sparkling grapefruit water and mix.
– Garnish with a slice of dehydrated lime.
– *Tajín/sea salt/black pepper rim: two parts tajín: one part maldon sea salt: one part black pepper

Honey-Ginger Margarita

A sweet and spicy variety to create with a few pantry staples, the honey-ginger margarita is a subtle yet satisfying spin on the classic.


60ml Silver Pattern
30 ml honey syrup
30ml fresh lime juice
3 pieces of ginger


– In the bottom of a blender mould, crush two pieces of ginger (rings of fresh ginger about the size of a quarter) with the honey syrup.*
– Add Patrón Silver and lime juice; shake vigorously with ice to cool.
– Strain over fresh ice in an old fashioned double glass.
– Garnish with a slice of lime and a piece of ginger.
– *Honey syrup: Mix equal parts honey and lukewarm water, stirring until the honey is completely dissolved.

Watermelon Basil Margarita

Perfectly fusing the fruity taste of watermelon with the aromatic herbs of basil, this refreshing margarita is like an Italian summer vacation in a glass.


45ml Boss rested
30ml fresh watermelon juice or puree
30ml fresh lime juice
30ml agave nectar
Wedge of watermelon or slice of dehydrated lime for garnish


– Combine ingredients in a shaker and shake with ice to chill.
– Strain over fresh ice in an old fashioned double glass.
– Garnish with a basil leaf and a quarter of watermelon or a slice of dehydrated lime.

Cucumber and Coconut Margarita

If you love coconut as much as we do, this margarita is the perfect mix of summer freshness – sure to keep your drink chilled and your mood even cooler.


45ml Silver Pattern
60ml coconut water
15ml fresh lime juice
15ml simple sugar syrup
7 thin cucumber slices, 3 for garnish


– Combine all ingredients (including 4 of the cucumber slices) in a shaker and shake vigorously with ice to chill.
– Strain over fresh ice in a highball glass.
– Garnish with the remaining 3 cucumbers.
