Hanoi (VNA) – The 2022 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Police Band Gala kicked off July 7 in the Hoan Kiem Lake area of downtown Hanoi, marking the 60th anniversary of the traditional People’s Police Day (July 20).
The two-day event sees participation from police bands from ASEAN members such as Laos, the Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar and Vietnam, in addition to those of Japan and China.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, stressed that the gala aims to enhance mutual understanding of national cultural identity, countries and their people, as well as the development process of the Vietnamese police and those of other countries. It also serves as a cultural and musical exchange between the police forces of ASEAN members and their partners.
He expressed his hope that the event will help promote the image of the beautiful country and the friendly and hospitable people of Vietnam to the international community, and promote cooperation between the Vietnamese police and forces of other nations.
ASEAN plus 2022 police music gala consists of two main parts. The first part will see performances and parades of the police forces of the participating countries. For the second, an outdoor concert will take place on July 10 at 8 p.m. in front of the King Ly Thai To Monument near Hoan Kiem Lake (sword returned)./.
